Display The Shutdown Menu When Your Computer’s Power Button Is Pressed

Step 1:

Go to your Windows XP's desktop and right-click it. Select "Properties" and the Display Properties window will appear.

Open the "Screen Saver" tab and look for the "Power" button near the bottom of the window. Click it.


Step 2:

In the "Power Options Properties" window that opens,  go to the "Advanced" tab.

There is a dialog box in the "Power Buttons" section. Choose what you want Windows to do when the power button is pressed.

"Ask me what to do" will make it open up the shutdown menu.



Step 3:

Click "OK" and restart your computer. From now on, pressing the power button will open the shutdown menu, letting you decide what you want to do.

How To Change Your Computer’s Screen Resolution

Here's how to change your screen resolution:

Go to your Windows XP's desktop and right click on an empty space. Select "Properties".

In the "Display Properties" window that appears, navigate to the "Settings" tab on the right.

Move the slider in the bottom-left corner of the window to change your computer's screen resolution: left for lower resolution, right for higher resolution. Try moving it to the far right for maximum resolution. Press "Apply" and see if everything works.

Install WordPress locally (on localhost) with WAMP Server

  1. Install a Local Server
  2. Create a New Database
  3. Open phpmy admin locally

      4. create database
     5. Download Wordpress
unzip to www root folder of your WAAMP server

      6. Update wp-config.php File

In the folder, rename the wp-config-sample.php to wp-config.php. Open wp-config.php and update the database details (db_name, user, password, host) according to your local server.

set DB_char as "utf8"

          7. Run install.php

With your browser, go to http://localhost:8888/mysite/wp-admin/install.php and follow the instructions to install WordPress.

Reset a WordPress Password from phpMyAdmin

Note: use phpMyAdmin at your own risk.

  • Click your WordPress database.
  • All the tables in your database will appear. If not, click Structure.
  • Look for wp_users.
  • Click on the icon for browse or structure.

The next screen lists the fields within the wp_users table.

  • On user_login click browse and find the ID number associated with your login. Remember it.
  • Go back to the wp_users table.
  • On the user_pass field, click browse and find the ID number associated with your login.
  • Click edit.
  • Next to the ID number is a long list of numbers and letters.
  • Select and delete these and type in your new password.
  • Type in the password you want to use. Just type it in normally, but remember, it is case-sensitive.
  • In this example, the new password will be 'tweaksit'
  • Once you have done that, click the dropdown menu indicated, and select MD5 from the menu.
  • Check that your password is actually correct, and that MD5 is in the box.
  • Click the 'Go' button to the bottom right.
  • Test the new password on the login screen. If it doesn't work, check that you've followed these instructions exactly.
